Thoughtful travel. Practical frameworks. Real-world experience.

Travelling curiously through life

I’ve been travelling for around 25 years and the way I travel has changed over time. I used to plan packed itineraries, go through the sights checklist and come home more exhausted than when I left. It took burnout, long service leave and a week on the south coast of Sri Lanka doing almost nothing to show me there was a different way to move through the world. I now value the vibe of a place over its tourist traps, a long lunch over a rushed highlight, and returning to somewhere I loved over ticking off somewhere new. I find the best travel moments are rarely the ones you planned.

Who I am

I’m Diana — Melbourne-based traveller, writer and corporate professional navigating midlife, a sensitive gut and the ongoing question of what comes next. I started this space as a creative outlet and a way to document something I wasn’t seeing written about honestly anywhere else: what travel actually looks and feels like for a working woman in her 40s who hasn’t got it all figured out yet.

What you’ll find here

This blog sits at the intersection of slow travel, real life and the kind of midlife reckoning that doesn’t resolve neatly. I write about destination guides and travel inspiration through a slow travel lens, managing IBS and gut health on the road, burnout and career reinvention, packing for real trips with a real body, and the deeper questions about identity and what we actually want from the lives we’re building.

My Travel Philosophy

I don’t believe travel is about escaping life. I think it provides the opportunity for reflection, time away from the regular demands of life, but also an opportunity to tap into spontaneity and joy. My approach is simple: research your options, leave room in the itinerary, and decide on the day based on energy and curiosity rather than obligation. Less rushing, more noticing. Depth over breadth.
